I used to use Card Scan with my PC

Works perfectly with my Mac and is much cheaper than the only Card Scan device that is Mac compatible. Highly recommend it.

WorldCard Mac Scanner

Very easy to use and worked first time. Compact and neat. It does not like thick business cards so I had a problem with a couple that I tried to scan and small narrow card - very unusual really - did not go through. I have yet to get a suitable export file saved that I can import into Outlook so still working on that one.

Complete Disappointment

Having done a fair bit of research before buying this item I was quite confident that this Mac Plus was a good choice. The context of my review: I run a local networking group, due to its informal nature we get regular new faces and inorder to reduce the effort of 'keying' them into our database I wanted an effective and quick card scanning device (that needed to work on MAC's since we have no PC's in the office) First off- the scanner itself is of reasonable construction and neatly pops out to allow cards for scanning to rest in the slot before they are drawn in. The USB cable (when not in use) can be housed in a small void on the opposite side to the card slot. In the box came a disc to load the software that firstly controls the device and secondly manages the data for sharing / exporting. We needed to be able to be able to export to xls or csv for inport to our database and so I checked this was possible for a couple of different models before making my choice. In fairness to the customer support guy the answers were prompt enough (considering the time difference to their USA customer service base) and included a screen shot of how the export looked. All good so far. Unfortunately there are several key problems with the software: 1 It will not scan cards where the data is in portrait format, only landscape. Fairly basic and not an outrageous demand. 2 The software is only permitted to be installed on one machine. .... things have moved on in the software world and whilst I am comfortable with buying multiple copies for apps on the MAC app store I find this requirement poor. What if I changed machines or wanted another person in the office to do this for me ? The registration process for the software is also onerous, requiring lots of information that is superflous to any ongoing marketing they might have planned. Why should I have to give all the info just to use a product I have purchased? 3 Whilst the data captured from the successfully scanned cards was on the whole in the correct fields, the title cells contained prefixes to the useful title information. I can't remember the exact format but along the lines of XXX_XXXEmail - meaning the window had to be stretched to max size and still did not contain all the data columns (with out the need to scroll across) 4 Trying to export any data proved impossible, the file formats we wanted were offered, but the buttons in the export pop-up contained no text, therefore I could not tell which button was for what... even just pressing both of them proved fruit-less as neither seemed to do anything. As if the product was not bad enough the returns process has not been a great experience: Sent an email explaining why I wanted to return it. Got a reply saying that a return authorisation would be send within 48 hours. 3 days later I chased for this and a day after that I received the authorisation. Just to rub salt in the wound - the item is be returned to the Expansys return centre in France at my cost, despite having been purchased from Expansys (via Amazon.co.uk) and having been shipped from the UK in the first place. So now I am required to pay more money to return it and get (most) of my money back. It is not Expansys who built such a poor product, but they sold it to me and thus it is their responsibility to resolve the problem. There are many online retailers who offer shipping paid returns, I should have gone to one of them. One star awa
